What are Functional Skills?

Functional skills are the most practical skills that you can develop to help you in life, study and work.

Functional Skills are the fundamental skills in English, Maths and ICT that people need for their working and personal lives. Apprentices who have not already achieved a GCSE grade 4-9/C-A* or equivalent in their English and Maths (or ICT for some qualifications) will need to complete their Functional Skills in these areas alongside the apprenticeship.

If you are completing a Business Administration Level 2 Framework you will need to complete your Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT providing you haven't already achieved a GCSE grade 4-9/C-A*.

If you're completing any other qualification with Riverside Training you will only need to complete Functional Skills in Maths and English which is also dependent on whether you haven't already achieved a GCSE grade 4-9/C-A*.
